AL House presents a thoughtful architectural response to the dual complexities of a challenging, contoured site and a hybrid brief: integrating a private family residence with a rentable guest unit. The project materializes as a striking example of modern minimalist tropical architecture, defined by its cascading volumes, a prominent roofscape, and a dynamic, permeable façade that mediates climate and privacy.
The design navigates the sloping topography by organizing its program across multiple split levels. This strategy allows the building to gracefully cascade down the hill rather than opposing it. The primary living areas are strategically elevated from the street level, a move that secures enhanced privacy, captures prevailing breezes, and capitalizes on potential views over the neighborhood. The structure is anchored by a solid base at the lowest level, which discreetly houses the carport and service functions, allowing the lighter residential volumes to emerge above.
